6/11/10 Waiting in Ft Morgan

Waiting in Ft Morgan for the cells that are developing as we speak off the Palmer divide. Interestingly they are moving north northeast still. Actually they are moving more north in the mountains. Its 11:30 now and I may take a nap, I do not think there will be anything for a while yet. Mc Donalds and I HOP has free wi-fi so that's good to know. I am buggin out for now. Will post further when its time to make a decision.

Made a decision to head to last chance co. From what it looks like the ones out of the springs are my best bet.

Having gotten to Last Chance I made the choice to go to byers via bennett

Wow the cell out of N Denver really blew up but I am intercepting the cell that is coming out of the tech center. The Springs cells are too far for my gas situation.

Battered by hail from another cell that popped pretty much over my head

Heading home hope I make it I am on fumes now.

6/10/10

6/11/10 I didn't post yesterday so I give a brief summary. Left Denver after having lunch with Pam at around 2:30 and headed for Sterling Co.. Hindsight I should have gone there but after looking at radar in Ft Morgan I changed my direction to Kimball NE again. Took 52 to 14 east to 71 north. One thing I have noticed is when you see all the storm chasers heading in one direction there is a reason. So, up 71 I see them flying south and decide to continue with my plan. This not having radar on the fly hurts my decision making. In Kimball I see the cells from Denver have become T warned as they roll out to the east plains. Hoping they maintain strength and banking on the MDT risk area I decide to move to Sterling as these cells approach. Unfortunately, the cluster begins to disorganize as it gets to Sterling but still has some strong cells to the south. Dark arrives and without on the fly radar I have to go entirely off the lightning until I get to Ogallala NE. Checking radar I see that there was a little re-development just east which I thought might produce so I head east. I get to Paxton NE about midnight having punched the core with a little hail. I wait there as they peter out and decide my nights done. I drove back to Julesburg and slept there. Woke up to a cool blue sky morning that can make even the worse attitude better. Drove down to FT Morgan to wait it out for storms out of Denver today.

Bust

This will go down as my first official bust. I have decided to rein in the storm chasing horse after my next adventure.

Sydney Co

6/9/10 I am in Sydney CO waiting to see what develops. Stopped in Limon overnight and the Prediction center changed the risk to more NE Co so extra miles for nothing (note to self, the downside to leaving the night before). I found wifi at the Mircotel motel here. I am going to see if I can get anymore money on my card, boy just like a drug. If I can a little more gas money I will be able to go to sterling.

The end or Beginning

I am sitting outside in the parking lot of the Texas Roadhouse were of course I work. Left the house where I have lived for the last 6 years and into my van about 4 days ago. My girlfriend Pam and I are struggling and I know I am the major problem. That being said had to set the stage for this next adventure. I decided to at least document the stupid things I do. Last year I was slammed into the obsession for the Super Cell. I have been obsessed with many things in my life but catching these storms has been by far the most fulfilling I have realized that I am "That guy" with no real equipment so all his quality sucks in the films, could get himself in trouble, he's just following the chasers, and at times that's all true. We all have the same thing in common, that passion.

Well I have to decide if I should just head out now and see how far I get or stay close and just follow. 6/8/2010
